drew Beatty | FOUNDER

Masters of Exercise Physiology
SCCC, CSCS, USAWL-1, Bioforce

Born and raised in Central Florida, Drew Beatty spent his childhood competitively playing baseball and football. During his senior year in high school, he tore his ACL which led to the loss of many Division 1 opportunities for football. However, even with the tear, Drew was still awarded a full scholarship for both sports to Ottawa University in Kansas. He ended up transferring to Lindenwood University in St. Louis, MO where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. With now a total of four ACL injuries, Drew ultimately had to end his playing career. With his injuries preventing him from a career in the NFL, Drew realized helping young athletes stay safe from injury was becoming his passion. He continued his studies at the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Christian University (TCU) and received a Masters in Exercise Physiology. While earning his Master’s he held camps for Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX with Performance Course and helped coach the Football, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Swim and Dive teams at Texas Christian University (TCU). Soon after, Drew was offered an opportunity at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA as the Strength and Conditioning Coach working with Baseball, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Cross Country. After a few years, Drew noticed the demand for Strength Coaches in the area and turned his focus on younger athletes, founding Beatty Strength.

The variety of sports Coach Beatty has worked with include Football, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Swimming and Diving.

With all of the sports Drew has played himself or worked with as a strength coach, he has developed a niche market in the Tampa Bay area for Arm Care programs for baseball and softball while continuing to work with other sports.

Drew and his wife, Lia, have 4 kids which motivate him to be a better person and role model every day.

Scott Brotherton, M.D

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Scott Brotherton is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon that works closely with Beatty Strength in caring for our athletes and Beatty Strength performing return to play protocols for athletes returning from various injuries or surgeries.

Dr. Scott Brotherton is a Florida native who grew up in the state’s panhandle. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and then returned to Florida and earned his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine.

After completing a surgical internship at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL, Dr. Brotherton finished his orthopedic residency training in upstate New York at Albany Medical Center with a heavy focus on trauma and arthroplasty. After completing his residency training Dr. Brotherton served in the United States Air Force, ultimately earning the rank of Major. In his first assignment, he was assigned to Osan Air Force Base in South Korea where he served as the sole orthopedic surgeon for over 10,000 active-duty airmen and dependents. For his excellent service overseas he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. Returning home to Florida he completed his military service at Eglin Air Force Base, where he continued to provide orthopedic care for this large training and special operations facility.

Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Brotherton continued to refine his surgical skill and operative technique while completing a sports medicine fellowship at The Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL with the renowned Dr. James Andrews. There he focused on the care of athletes as well as arthroscopic and regenerative procedures, the application of stem cell and other biologic therapies, and expanding his base of knowledge in the diagnosis and management of upper and lower extremity pathology. In addition to obtaining superior surgical training, Dr. Brotherton received extensive ‘on-the-field’ training and provided coverage to athletic teams at multiple levels, including Minor League Baseball (Pensacola Blue Wahoos), Division I & Division II College Football and Athletics (Auburn University, Tuskegee University, University of West Florida), local high school football, and other sporting events.

While Dr. Brotherton enjoys providing care to athletes at all levels, he most enjoys participating at the high school and early college levels. It is here that he feels he can most make a difference in the lives of young athletes. He feels that the majority of overuse injuries can be prevented through directed education to these athletes, their parents and coaches. He also believes that many methods used to treat high-level athletes can be adapted and applied to the general population and its growing number of aging, active individuals.
